Employers and the TBC
Check out these members from NINE different TBC teams. Members from 2 Turntables and a Microphone, Wheezy Riders, Wheelie Good to the Earth, Road Hogs, Road Psycos, Ducer Pedaler, Blue Steel, Global Coolers and Bikers for ITC all work on Ward Drive for the following companies:
Electro-Optical Industries (EOI), Sonatech, Inc. (STI), Channel Industries, Inc. (CII), Channel Technologies, Inc. (CTI) and International Transducer Company (ITC).
Traffic Solutions is excited to see this highly involved participation by employers in this year's TBC. Companies have gotten behind their teams by sponsoring breakfasts, lunches and picnics for participants. And we know many employers are encouraging the healthy (and sometimes INTENSE) competition between teams during the month of June.
SO WE WANT TO KNOW:
What is your employer doing to support you and the TBC? Are they cheering you on and keeping you going? How so?

We have 8 or 9 teams from our company alone, but alas, no breakfasts or picnics for us... we do have an enclosed bike cage though, so i won't complain!
Know any private businesses that are doing something to encourage bicycling? Bicycle lockers, bicycle customer discounts, lunches for the TBC, vacation time bonuses for bicycle commuting? We want to see these kinds of businesses acknowledged in the annual Green Awards. Every year we award 4 to 5 businesses or schools that do business in an environmentally friendly way. Encouraging bicycling by employees or patrons helps reduce pollution and dependence on foreign oil. Go to http://www.greendifference.org/Default.htm to nominate a business or school.

My employer has showers and lockers and a gym. They aren't doing anything for the TBC. That was my idea. But having those things available helps remove barriers to getting people to ride to work.
My biking co-workers aren't happy with the outside bike racks, though. I think they're being too fussy. I don't even lock my bike and nobody steals it. We do have bike lockers, but real bikes don't really fit in bike lockers, do they? Mine don't.
My employer really isn't doing anything. We have about 6 teams competing and the top Officials are competing as well. I think it would have been great to have an intra-company competition. Maybe next year! One day of vacation for the top team???
After seeing this posted photo (and receiving some hints from the bike teams:) our mother corporation, Channel Technologies, has decided to host us a luncheon on the beach and maybe even award some prizes to the top finishers in the corporation.
Thanks for the post TBC!
I'm on one of many teams from the City of Santa Barbara. It would be great if the City would give some sort of recognition to those who ride throughout the year and maybe even to those participating in this year's event. Our team members found out about the contest through another employee's e-mail, not through City Officials.
